
The Parents Supporting Parents Group will be led by Brittany Taussig, a board certified Behavior Analyst and owner of RISE Behavioral Consulting, LLC. She will facilitate and guide the discussion but will ultimately allow parents to connect and support one another as various topics are discussed and processed through.
Childcare will be provided in the playroom from 6:00-7:00 PM to ensure parents can participate in kid free conversations and discussions!
Week 1: Understanding your Child’s Behavior
Thursday, September 7th 5:30-7:00 PM
Everything children do, they do for specific reasons. Children who demonstrate challenging behaviors are often trying to communicate that they want or need something. We will explore the four main reasons challenging behaviors occur. We will discuss how specific behaviors typically lead to specific results, and how these repeated relationships often cause children to continue to engage in these behaviors. Then we will discuss various strategies you can use to help your children change those behaviors in the future.
Week 2: Avoiding Power Struggles and Reducing Tantrums
Thursday, September 14th 5:30-7:00 PM
Power struggles and tantrums are two of the biggest challenges parents deal with on a regular basis. We will practice several phrases that can be used to minimize power struggles. Then we will discuss five steps that can be used to calm tantrums without threats or punishments.
Week 3: Redirecting Challenging Behaviors, How to Set Boundaries and Expectations

“Discipline” is often a highly debated topic among parenting groups. We will learn some phrases and techniques that can be used to redirect children when they are displaying challenging behaviors. We will work on how to set healthy boundaries with your children, without threating, negotiating, or lecturing. Then we will discuss natural and logical consequences and talk about what they are, why they work, and how to apply them.
Week 4: Regulating your Child’s Emotions (and your own)

In a poll of over 120,000 parents, 100% of parents reported that their children have gotten upset or angry at some point in their childhood and that they themselves, as parents, have also lost their cool at some point in parenthood. We will learn several strategies to regulate both our children’s emotions and our own and will discuss how to replace distance with presence throughout the process.
Week 5: Increasing your Child’s Speech and Language Development
Thursday, October 5th 5:30-7:00 PM
Speech, language, and communication are critical areas of development for children. We will discuss several strategies for supporting language development. We will also explore how to increase your child’s ability to listen and attend to what you are saying, as well as their ability to respond back.
Week 6: Stress Reduction and Self-Care as Parents
Thursday, October 19th 5:30-7:00 PM
Self-care is an essential and important part of parenting and yet taking a break for yourself often causes anxiety and guilt for mothers and fathers alike. We will discuss why self-care is so important and how to make time for it given all the responsibilities and tasks parents are faced with juggling on a daily and weekly basis.

Cost per session = $50.00 per family
Cost for all 6 sessions = $225.00 per family (you save $75)
(Cost includes all session materials, childcare, and playroom)

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Socks are required in the playroom but are available for purchase, if needed. Adults $1.00 and children $2.00. Feel free to bring a pre-packed meal or snacks for your children to eat or snacks can be purchased for $1.00. Adults, there are currently no plans for food at this time. However, we will discuss dinner options at the first session.
If this is your first time to Enchanted Playroom you will need to fill out the Liability Waiver Form. You can fill this out here at the playroom OR you can fill it out online which will save you time when you arrive.
